Earth Month: Make Small Changes for Sustainability

At Java Love we take pride in caring for our environment. This Earth is the only one we have, so we do what we can to keep it revolving. We are deeply committed to supporting local and global communities. Our beans are sourced from farmers who care about their work.

We are proudly fair trade certified, meaning we help work to build a better environment for our farmers and their families. We do this through market access, sustainable and equitable trade relationships, and advocacy and consumer awareness. We want the best for all steps of the journey, from our farmers, to our employees, to our guests.

Java Love is also Swiss Water Certified. The Swiss Water Process is the use of pure water to gently remove caffeine, the action of doing so is 100% chemical free, decaffeinating the beans in small batches.

We also hold a Rainforest Alliance Certification, and USDA Organic. The Rainforest Alliance seal signifies that a farm has undergone an audit and complies with sustainability standards addressing environmental, social, and economic factors. Certification requires producers to meet the criteria defined by the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN), which are grounded in principles of sustainable agriculture, biodiversity conservation, enhanced human well-being, responsible resource management, and efficient farm planning and operations.

The USDA organic certification verifies that food is produced using sustainable practices without synthetic pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers. It reflects farming methods that work in harmony with nature, promote biodiversity, and protect soil health.

We recently launched k-cup pods, adding another way we aim to help reduce harmful plastic waste. Our k-cups come in a compostable pod. Everyone wants good coffee in seconds, in the comfort of your own home.  You shouldn’t have to choose between that, and helping our planet so we eliminate you from having to make that decision.

In our online shop, and at our cafe locations we sell Bamboo Eco- Coffee Cups. The purpose of these cups is to reduce paper cup waste as less than 2% of the yearly 300 million paper cups used will ever be recycled. We offer the Bamboo Eco-Coffee cups in numerous colors so you can help the planet in style. They have a resealable no drip lid, and come with a latex free silicone lid. You should treat yourself to a new cup next time you order from Java Love!

If pods  or reusable cups aren’t your style and you still want to help reduce waste , you can come get fresh beans in your own container at any of our shop locations. If you have your own reusable cup, and you bring it in shop you can receive 10% off your order!

We work towards helping our planet, and as a customer of ours you’re doing that too!
