An Easy Recipe for Your New Favorite Spring Drink
There’s a reason strawberry matcha has been everywhere lately. It’s refreshing, not overly sweet, and somehow feels both energizing and calming at the same time. Plus, the combination of earthy matcha and fresh strawberry just works.
The best part is you don’t need a full café setup to make one at home.
Whether you’re already a matcha person or just trying something new this spring, here’s a simple strawberry matcha recipe you can make in just a few minutes.
What You’ll Need
-
1 tsp ceremonial or café-grade matcha
-
2 oz hot water (not boiling)
-
½ cup milk of choice
-
½ cup strawberries, fresh or frozen
-
1–2 tsp honey or maple syrup
-
Ice
Optional: vanilla syrup, strawberry cold foam, or coconut milk for a creamier finish.
Step 1: Make the Strawberry Layer
Add your strawberries and sweetener to a blender or mash them together by hand until smooth. You want it slightly syrupy, almost like a purée.
Pour the strawberry mixture into the bottom of your glass.
Step 2: Add Ice + Milk
Fill your glass with ice and pour your milk over top. Oat milk works especially well here because it adds a creamy texture without overpowering the matcha.
Step 3: Whisk the Matcha
In a separate bowl, whisk your matcha with hot water until smooth and frothy. If you have a bamboo whisk, even better, but a handheld frother works too.
Just make sure the water isn’t boiling. Matcha can turn bitter if it gets too hot.
Step 4: Pour + Enjoy
Slowly pour the matcha over the milk for that layered look. Give it a stir before drinking, or leave it separated for the aesthetic first sip.
That’s it.
A Few Tips
-
Use good quality matcha. It really makes a difference in flavor.
-
Fresh strawberries will give you a brighter flavor, but frozen work perfectly too.
-
Want it sweeter? Add vanilla syrup or sweet cold foam on top.
-
Want it stronger? Use a little more matcha or less milk.
